Light Lentil soup with tomatoes, coriander leaves, crushed black pepper, jullienne ginger, sliced green chillies, mum’s soup spiced powder/Rasa podi, tempered in ghee with mustard seeds, cummin, curry leaves, hing, dried red chillies, and a generous squeeze of lemon. MIL’s brinjal Pahie. Pickled brinjal. Deep fried brinjals, sliced red onions, green chillies, curry leaves, with pounded ginger, garlic, and ground mustard seeds, dried red chillies, cummin seeds, vinegar, salt, jaggery. Tastes even better the next day.
