Navarathri.
9 days of Doing wonderful things.
Be it doing puja, making music, cooking prasadam, going to work, temple, getting students prepared for temple performances, visiting friends’ homes or just clearing the altar, setting up for the next day,
Each bit of Doing was a meditation in itself.
Lalitha Trishati, Sahasravidya, Sahasranamam recitations along with other prayers got us supercharged.
I’ve fallen behind in my blogging and posting as the days seem to have shrunk.
I’m afraid I did not follow the Navarathri colour code as I tend to wear reds/maroons for Durga for the first three days, pink for the next three days of Lakshmi and finally creams and whites for my favourite final three days for Saraswathi. And horror of horrors, I have not had many photos clicked! But somehow managed to salvage a few..
So, on Sunday I draped this creamy white kanjivaram silk, with pallu and borders of lemon yellow, gold and silver, mango and flowers in gold. Body has silver diamond shaped buttis. My first online purchase some years ago during a Deepavali sale when postage charges had been waived.
Apt calm sunny choice to mentor my students as they performed in front of Saraswathi in a temple.
Watching them, my prayer was/is
That they continue to sing, play veena, dance, immerse themselves in the arts while pursuing studies and other passions and goals in life.
That they understand that by doing so, they will inspire others to do the same.
That they aspire to attain greater heights.
That they know that Learning NEVER stops and that their knowledge is but a mere drop in the vastness of the ocean of music.
I pray for my students, my family and myself for the correct attitude and mindset when pursuing any field ie.
humility, unquenching thirst for more knowledge, single minded devotion to the teacher and the tenacity to practise and master the skill.
May Saraswathi bless us all, for we are Eternally Students.
